LightFoot School Camps at Wangat Lodge

2015 - Preferred group size: 15-30 persons

Wangat Lodge is proud to be an award winning environmental education centre. We have been running School Camps and excursions since 1988 and have developed LightFoot programs for K-12. We can run these activities for you, adapting one of our programs to meet your group's specific needs. Alternatively, you may hire Wangat as a venue for your self-run program. School groups have hired Wangat Lodge for band camps, year 12 retreats, peer support camps, study camps, writing camps, gifted and talented programs, primary music, year 11 ecology, geography, year 9 teamwork and more.

Schools usually stay from 2 to 4 nights and our group accommodation can comfortably sleep 46 people. Extra accommodation is available in 2 self-contained Cottages – "Melia" accommodates four people and "Overflow" up to seven. Healthy catering is available or you may choose to self-cater.  To best serve the needs of individual children, and for safety in the bush, we favour a group size of 15-30 persons.

A comprehensive Teachers' Handbook is available to help you prepare for your visit. We also welcome a pre-visit to help you get a feel for the place, explore the possibilities and to experience what Wangat has to offer your program.

Wangat Lodge, located in the Hunter Valley foothills of the Barrington Tops National Park, is a gazetted Wildlife Refuge with 100 forested acres and frontage to the beautiful Chichester River.  There is an extensive network of walking trails, look-out and several wonderful swimming holes. The lodge environment is rich in native wildlife – frogs, birds, possums, pademelons, land mullets, goannas and echidnas are often seen. As Wangat is a Wildlife Refuge, domestic pets are not permitted.
