Facilities for Schools
Wangat Lodge is a purpose-built mud-brick environmental education centre.
We have table tennis, a handball area, a volleyball court and an extensive network of forested trails to a look-out, river and rainforest.
Fig Tree Pool is suitable for supervised river-swimming in season.
Horse-riding and tennis court hire are available nearby.
The Lodge complex comprises:
- ten rooms (four 6-bed; five 4-bed; one 2-bed)
- shared bathrooms (one with disabled access)
- spacious communal room with dining, lounge, recreational and lecture facilities
- fully equipped commercial-sized kitchen with large fridge, freezer, huge stove & microwave. All crockery and cutlery provided.

Adjacent to the Lodge are self-contained cottages which are available for staff or staff/students if your group comprises more than 46 people. "Melia" accommodates four people and "Overflow" up to seven.
The Lodge is situated on Wangat Wildlife Refuge, a forested 100 acres with frontage to the beautiful Chichester River. There is an extensive network of walking trails, several wonderful swimming holes and abundant wildlife.

What you need to bring For the Lodge, Melia and Overflow guests are asked to bring their own sheets (or sleeping bags), pillowcases and towels. Blankets and doonas are provided. To keep garbage to a minimum, guests are requested to bring fresh food or food/beverages in recyclable or re-useable containers. As Wangat is a Wildlife Refuge, domestic pets are not permitted.
